My Rolodex

“My Rolodex” is a compilation of organizations that I wholeheartedly support. Check them out. See what you think. I will add and change them periodically so keep in touch. There is a lot of good work being done on behalf of all of us in the world and I delight in illuminating this work!

Women’s Earth Alliance   www.WomensEarthAlliance.org
From their website: “Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA) emerged in 2006 from an unprecedented meeting in Mexico City where 30 women leaders from 26 countries gathered to create solutions to a common concern: the lack of support available to women working on the front lines of social and environmental challenges. Today, WEA partners with community-based organizations globally to uplift local solutions to issues of water, food, land, and climate change by providing women with trainings, resources, and advocacy support. WEA’s programs are based on the belief that when women thrive, communities, the environment, and future generations thrive.

Women’s Earth Alliance is one of the few organizations working at the intersections of women’s rights and the environment. WEA strengthens women’s leadership, secures women’s rights, and addresses some of the biggest environmental challenges facing our world today.

The Need and Opportunity

For women to enjoy economic, social and political security, they need access to the basic resources of food, water and land – access which is far too often limited. In many societies, women also hold primary responsibility for management of food, water and land within the household. In their unique position, women can experience both the unequal burden of work to secure and prepare the family’s food and water as well as the vulnerability which results from traditional gender roles at home and gender discrimination in society.

As water stewards and farmers, women around the world are also particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Women in underserved communities find themselves on the front lines of climate impacts, often witnessing their water sources and traditional land bases shift or disappear because of a dangerous mix of changing temperatures and structural inequalities. Women are greatly at risk of the effects of climate change and are important contributors to addressing climate resiliency.

WEA helps women secure their rights and safety and remove barriers to full participation in society by supporting them in addressing the environmental issues impacting their lives. And, by bringing women’s leadership to these critical environmental issues, WEA brings vital voices, perspectives and participation to addressing the greatest and most basic challenges of our time.”

Bioneers  www.Bioneers.org
From their web site: “Founder Kenny Ausubel coined the term Bioneers in 1990 to describe an emerging culture. Bioneers are social and scientific innovators from all walks of life and disciplines who have peered deep into the heart of living systems to understand how nature operates, and to mimic “nature’s operating instructions” to serve human ends without harming the web of life. Nature’s principles—kinship, cooperation, diversity, symbiosis and cycles of continuous creation absent of waste—can also serve as metaphoric guideposts for organizing an equitable, compassionate and democratic society.”

Bioneers is A Leading Source of Innovative Solutions.

As a 501c3 nonprofit organization, we provide a forum and social hub for education about solutions presented through the Bioneers Conference and our programs. Our media productions leverage this content to reach millions of people around the nation and the world with our award-winning radio series, Bioneers: Revolution From the Heart of Nature; anthology book series; television programs; and our interactive website. We act as a key source for the media, including third-party films and the press. Our DVDs, CDs and other educational materials are also used by colleges and schools and by community-based and other organizations to inform and inspire positive change at the local level.”

Financial Integrity www.FinancialIntegrity.org
(I know this as the New Road Map foundation)
From their web site: “The New Road Map Foundation (NRM) began informally in the late 1970s when Joe Dominguez, Vicki Robin, Monica Wood and others traveled in their motor home to volunteer with a variety of service projects. The formal beginning came in 1984, when New Road Map became a 501c3 “educational and charitable” organization.

At the core of New Road Map’s educational work was (and is) the nine step program for financial intelligence, integrity and independence created by Joe Dominguez. Joe was born in 1938 in Spanish Harlem, New York City. Education was his ticket out of the slums, and that included a self-directed education on money — what it was and how it worked. After learning and working his way up to a successful career as a Wall Street financial analyst, he retired at the age of 31, having cracked the code not of Wall Street but of money itself. His retirement funds weren’t acquired through a “killing” on the stock market, but merely from his own salary and a diligent method he created that combined classic financial principles with practical daily actions. He never again needed to accept money for any of his work and, having achieved “enough,” Joe dedicated himself to a life of voluntary service. He informally began teaching friends and acquaintances what he had learned so that they too could free themselves from jobs in order to pursue callings.”
